A Harvest for the Farmers.

According to Wikipedia, Community “is a small or large social unit (a group of living things) that has something in common, such as norms, religion, values or identity.” Community starts at home with our family, but can extend as far as we choose to let it.

Regardless of our commonalities or differences, we tend to gain a true sense of our “community” whenever there are people in need. Nobody should ever have to suffer alone, so we band together, united by our overwhelming sense to help.

Currently, our rural brothers and sisters are doing it tough. Gripped by an unrelenting dry season, our farming community is struggling. So, lets band together – lets help!

On Sunday October 28, the Altona Sports Club is throwing a Springtime Harvest!41172672_2161755213941554_6658386287436759040_n

From 10am to 6pm, the team at ASC will be supplying the fun – a day of celebration, dedicated to raising funds for this very worthy cause.

With jumping castles, carnival rides and animal farms, the kids will be well entertained, while the adults can get stuck into some lawn bowls, a hot rod/classic cars show, or head inside for the Variety Gala Extravaganza, featuring tributes to Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson and Dolly Parton, just to name a few.

OF course, there will be the obligatory sausage sizzle and face-painting – a community cannot exist without these vital staples. WYN FM will be setting up camp in the carpark – the WYN FM caravan will be pumping out the tunes from 12 – 5pm, with Rob Richardson and yours truly, taking over the airwaves.

Be sure to raid your piggy banks – raffles and  silent auctions will have you digging deep!
